Porcellio sevilla
Porcellio sevilla is a fantastic species for keepers looking to add something a little different to their collection. With their attractive natural colouring, chunky body shape and active personality, these are a brilliant addition to any isopod setup.
Like many Porcellio species, P. sevilla is an active and interesting isopod that can often be seen exploring the enclosure, especially when kept in a well-established colony. They make excellent members of a bioactive clean-up crew, helping to break down leaf litter, decaying wood and other organic material.
They are relatively straightforward to keep when provided with the basics they need: a moisture gradient, plenty of leaf litter, decaying hardwood, hiding places and a reliable source of calcium. As the colony settles in and starts breeding, you can soon have a busy little population working away in the enclosure.
Whether you're an experienced isopod keeper or just starting to build your collection, Porcellio sevilla is a species well worth adding to the list.
