Porcellio expansus “La Senia” is a stunning and robust locale of Porcellio expansus, prized for its impressive size, bold body structure, and warm earthy coloration. Native to the La Sénia region in Spain, this isopod is known for its elongated body, prominent segmentation, and subtle orange to brown tones that give it a unique and attractive appearance among Porcellio species.
Adults of Porcellio expansus “La Senia” develop a strong, elongated frame with wide, armored plates and a textured exoskeleton. The warm, earthy coloration often darkens along the edges of each segment, highlighting their segmented body and giving them a rugged, striking look. Their large size and confident movement make them an eye-catching addition to any isopod collection.
In captivity, Porcellio expansus “La Senia” thrives in a well-ventilated enclosure with a defined moisture gradient. While one area should remain consistently damp to support hydration and molting, the majority of the enclosure should stay relatively dry to mimic its natural habitat. A substrate rich in leaf litter, decomposing hardwood, and calcium sources such as limestone or cuttlebone helps maintain healthy growth and strong exoskeletons.
