Size
Adult size: 10–15 mm
Lifespan
Typically 1-2 years under good conditions.
Enclosure Setup
A small plastic tub or terrarium works well. Good ventilation is important, but humidity must still be maintained.
Recommended setup:
Deep natural substrate (4–6 cm)
Cork bark for hiding
Leaf litter covering most of the surface
Patches of moss to maintain humidity
Good ventilation holes
Isopods feel most secure when they have plenty of hiding spaces.
Substrate
A nutritious substrate is essential as it forms a large part of their diet.
A good mix can include:
Organic topsoil
Decayed hardwood leaves
Rotten wood
Calcium source such as crushed eggshell or cuttlebone
The substrate should be kept slightly moist but never waterlogged.
