Cubaris sp. ‘Happy Nun’
The Cubaris sp. ‘Happy Nun’ is a fascinating and highly sought-after isopod with a distinctive appearance that makes it a fantastic addition to any collection. Its unusual colouration and characteristic Cubaris shape give this species plenty of visual appeal, particularly when kept as part of an established colony.
Like many Cubaris, ‘Happy Nun’ appreciates a humid, stable and well-ventilated enclosure with plenty of natural hiding places. A good depth of moisture-retentive substrate, generous leaf litter and plenty of decaying hardwood will provide the foundations for a healthy colony. Cork bark and other natural materials can also be used to create additional hides.
Feed a varied diet consisting of leaf litter, decaying wood and quality supplementary foods, with an occasional source of calcium to support healthy growth and moulting.
With the right conditions and a little patience, these unusual isopods can develop into a rewarding breeding colony. They are an excellent choice for keepers who enjoy collecting more unusual Cubaris and building diverse, naturalistic setups.
