Difficulty
Beginner -moderate
Adult Size
Approximately 12–18 mm
Temperature
Ideal temperature range is 22–26°C.
Try to avoid temperatures below 18°C or above 28°C for extended periods.
Humidity
Cherry Blossom isopods prefer high humidity.
The enclosure should provide:
A moist area with moss
A slightly drier area for balance
Good airflow is still important to prevent mould and stagnant conditions.
Enclosure Setup
A naturalistic enclosure with plenty of cover works best for this species.
Recommended setup includes:
Deep moisture-retaining substrate
A thick layer of leaf litter
Pieces of cork bark for hiding
Decaying hardwood
Sphagnum moss on the moist side
Cubaris species enjoy tight hiding spots and will often spend time under bark or within the substrate.
Diet
Cherry Blossom isopods mainly feed on decaying organic material, but a varied diet helps keep the colony healthy.
Suitable foods include:
Leaf litter
Rotting wood
Vegetables such as carrot, squash, or courgette
Fish flakes or dried shrimp for protein
Calcium sources such as cuttlebone or crushed eggshell
Leaf litter should always be available as a staple food source.
