The Cuban Burrowing Cockroach is a fascinating species known for its strong burrowing behaviour and unique appearance. Native to Cuba, these roaches spend much of their time digging and living within the substrate, making them an interesting species to observe in a naturalistic setup.

Unlike many climbing cockroach species, Cuban Burrowing Cockroaches are primarily ground-dwelling and prefer deep, slightly moist substrate where they can dig tunnels and hide. They have a sturdy body with a smooth, glossy appearance, and adults develop attractive wings, although they tend to remain close to the ground rather than flying.

This species thrives in a warm enclosure with plenty of substrate for burrowing, along with leaf litter, cork bark, and other natural materials to create a secure environment. They are generally hardy and easy to care for, feeding on a varied diet that can include vegetables, fruits, leaf litter, and dry foods such as fish flakes or roach chow.
