Armadillidium Gestroi

Armadillidium gestroi is a stunning species of isopod known for its dark body covered with bright yellow spots. Their bold pattern and larger size make them a favourite among isopod keepers and collectors. This species is both hardy and active, making it a great addition to any isopod setup.

Adults can grow to around 15–20mm, which makes them one of the larger species in the Armadillidium genus. Once settled, they are often seen exploring the enclosure, especially during the evening.

Behaviour

Armadillidium gestroi are generally quite active and curious. Like other Armadillidium species, they are able to roll into a tight ball when disturbed as a form of protection.

They thrive when kept in colonies and will spend most of their time hiding under cork bark, wood, or leaf litter. With a well-established setup, they will gradually grow their colony over time.
