The Black Hole Isopod is a striking and highly desirable species within the genus Ardentiella, admired for its deep, dark coloration and bold contrast patterns. This unique appearance has made it a favourite among collectors looking for rare and visually impressive tropical isopods.
Ardentiella sp. ‘Black Hole’ originates from tropical forest environments and thrives in warm, humid enclosures with good ventilation. Like many Ardentiella species, they appreciate a naturalistic setup filled with leaf litter, cork bark, moss, and decaying hardwood, which provides both shelter and a continuous food source
These isopods are active and often explore their enclosure, occasionally climbing bark and décor. Their diet mainly consists of decomposing organic matter such as leaf litter and rotting wood, but they will also benefit from occasional protein and calcium supplements to support healthy growth and moulting.
Due to their sensitivity to environmental conditions, this species is generally recommended for intermediate to experienced keepers who can maintain stable humidity and proper airflow.
